i love a good red onion as much as the next guy, but where is the hype for our leeks, scallions, ramps, chives, and scapes? what's your favorite allium leaf?

We approve. An onion without any other greens can not shine just as gold without silver and copper and tin will never truly stand out. Idk man I’m not a philosopher but they’re all tasty. Except kale. Fuck kale

I’m down for any kind of onion but a scallion maybe it’s just the way that they are cut. I don’t like the texture. Give me a sweet, a white, a yellow, ramps but not the scallions. I’m sorry if I offend anybody by this post.

I love all of it! Ramps especially. For ethical harvesting of ramps, you only take a small amount from each plant. They won’t grow the next season if you take all of them. I *think?* you’re supposed to leave at least 3, but please correct me if I’m wrong! I learned that from Black Forager! She’s an absolutely endearing person and she’s full of knowledge of edible plants. She even has a segment where she shows two plants (which to people like me, look pretty much identical) and one is poisonous and one isn’t!! She’s awesome and I wish she was my friend IRL! 🩷

Cook them like asparagus.
Try to get them less flowed than in the picture: They get tough and stringy.
No need for garlic… it is already baked in!

I could have sworn there was a sub like this for garlic too! I can’t follow instructions on “aromatics,” I will add so much they become a main part of the meal. Like “half an onion” turns into “whatever my heart desires”
